If you are looking for some hot tournament action over the summer – or something to keep you warm if you live on the other side of the world – Ignition Poker has just released the schedule for its Super Millions Poker Open tournament series (SMPO). The series starts next Saturday (July 20th), and over the next four weeks there will be more than $4.5 million guaranteed across the series´ 139 events.
As usual with big tournament series at Ignition Poker, most of the valuable events are scheduled towards the end of the series in order to give players more options to qualify for them. As a consequence, the site will have its first ever million dollar weekend over August 16th to 18th, when the $400,000 guaranteed Main Event is supported by a host of other valuable tournaments.
Highlights of the Super Millions Poker Open
As the series starts on a Saturday, the early events in the schedule are relatively modest compared with what´s to come. The series really gets underway in earnest on Sunday July 21st with a Lucky 7s event and a Crazy 8s tournament, plus a $100,000 guaranteed High Rollers event. It´s also worth noting the guarantee for Ignition Poker´s Sunday Special has been increased to $150,000 during the series.
Thereafter, the series generally follows the pattern of four SMPO tournaments per day from Monday to Friday, and six SMPO tournaments on Saturdays and Sundays. One tournament each day is timed for the convenience of players in Australia. Most events are a version of NL Texas Hold´em (Turbo, KO, Deepstack, etc.), but there are also a couple of PL Omaha and FL Omaha Hi/Lo tournaments included in the schedule to add some variety. Satellites Now Running, But Be Careful Which You Enter

There are multiple Sit and Go and Multi-Table satellites running in the Ignition Poker client, but it can be confusing which point to specific SMPO events, which offer a guaranteed number of seats, and which can be used to enter non-SMPO tournaments. The issue here is that, if you win a satellite to a specific SMPO event, it has to be used to enter that event. SMPO entries won in satellites are not transferable.
It is also important to note that, during the run-up to the SMPO series, not every satellite will reach the number of entries required to award a seat. When satellites don´t have guarantees attached to them, Ignition Poker pays the winner a cash amount equivalent to the number of entries the tournament received rather than award a seat. Therefore, carefully read the terms of the satellite before entering it.
One set of satellites to keep an eye out for is the $22.00 buy-in “SMPO 150K Satellites” which feed into the guarantee-enhanced Sunday Specials. These take place each evening at 8:40pm and guarantee an increasing number of seats into the target events as the week progresses – i.e. on Mondays, the satellites guarantees one seat. On Tuesdays, it is two seats. By Friday, the guarantee is five seats.
