Pair Bet
Learn the Rules: With online tri-card poker, you have the Ante-Play and Pair Plus options. Mar 28, 2019 Perfect Pairs Perfect Pairs is one of the most common side bets in blackjack and its variants. It is popular across Australia, Macau and London, and is offered in the majority of online casinos. The side bet is also featured in other cards games, such as baccarat.
Online casinos offer a large number of blackjack variants to players who want something different from the standard games. There are games with side bets and games in which the card dealing rules have been made more exciting. However, there is no such provision for baccarat players at online casinos. They have the singular standard game to wager on. Fortunately for baccarat players live dealer casinos have taken the lead in offering interesting variants. Lucky Pairs Baccarat is one such variant.
The first thing about Lucky Pairs Baccarat is that it cannot be played for free. Unlike online casinos, live dealer casinos do not offer the play for free mode. So the player must be willing to wager with real money in order to play this baccarat variant. The second thing about Lucky Pairs Baccarat is that the high payout side bets come with a cost. They have a higher house edge than the normal Player or Banker bets. Therefore in order to try for the higher return the player has to take a higher risk. Lucky Pairs Baccarat is meant for the more aggressive wagerers. The conservative wagerers would find it better to stay with the standard variant of baccarat. It is not essential to place the Lucky Pairs side bet in this game. Without the side bet this baccarat variant is played just like the standard game. One way to mitigate the risk is to place the Lucky Pairs side bet in every third or fourth deal and in the remaining deals play the baccarat game the standard way.
The Lucky Pairs bet is that the first two cards dealt are a pair. The Player Pair bet is that the first two cards dealt to the Player are a pair. The Banker Pair bet is that the first two cards dealt to the Banker are a pair. The player has to place the Banker Pair bet or the Player Pair bet before the cards are dealt. Since the bets are independent the player can even wager on both of them. Once the first two cards are dealt to the Player and Banker positions the live dealer stops to take care of the Lucky Pair bets. The losing bets are removed from the table and the winning bets are paid out. The live dealer then returns to the main baccarat game, deals the third cards if required and settles the main bets. The Player Pair bet and the Banker Pair bet pay out at 11 to 1.
Some software providers offer variations to the Lucky Pairs Baccarat game described above. The variations are in the form of additional side bets. Some of these side bets are less risky whereas others are more risky and thus bring in players on a wide range of risk-return positions. Microgaming live dealer casinos offer a bet called Either Pair bet. This bet wins if either the Player position or the Banker position is dealt a pair in their first two cards. The payout is 5 to 1. Some other software providers offer the riskier side bets. The 2 Way bet wins when both the Player position and the Banker position is dealt a pair in their first two cards. The 3 Way bet wins in the above situation with the added condition that the Banker position and the Player position eventually tie.

The Pair Plus bet can be made alone or with the Ante / Play bet. Either way the bet is won or lost with the three cards you are dealt. Hands of a pair or higher win and the dealers hand is irrelevant. If played alone the bet is a one move bet that resolves when the cards are dealt.
If you play both bet types the win is not paid until the Ante / Play is resolved. With both bets you have to make the Play bet to get the pay off for the Pair Plus which is not a problem as you should always make the Play bet with a pair or higher anyway.
